Ginny and yarning along ... this post will be linked up and if you love knitting and books, you should Yarn Along, too.
This week finds me making some progress on my Oaklet shawl. I cast on for this shawl while on vacation at my parents' place in rural northern Indiana.
Alas, since we've been home, though I've tried to hang on to it, some of the peace and calm has left me and I often find myself knitting with a wiggling toddler in my lap. That's part of life as a mom and especially life as a knitting mom, so I don't mind.
It does, however, mean that from time to time I make mistakes with my knitting. In this case, there was a spell of about a half a dozen stitches where I ended up garter stitching without even realizing it until rows later.
Rather than rip it back, I decided to just call it a design element and I've been incorporating little six or seven stitches spots of garter stitch in the body of this shawl from time to time. Bumps in the road, so to speak.
Little lessons from motherhood - a knitted metaphor about finding the beauty in my current circumstances and going with the flow.
I like to think of it as maturity, as opposed to being a lazy knitter, ha ha!
What am I reading these days? Harry Potter fan fiction, of all things. I've started the James Potter series and I have to say, I'm really enjoying it. I've downloaded them to my Kindle (I downloaded them from the site and then emailed them to my Kindle address, easy peasy). I'm half way through the first book and I'm excited to see that there are more and the fourth will be released very soon.
My inner nerd, especially my inner Harry Potter nerd, is very, very happy.
