A Snowy Friday

After reading all of the lovely Day in the Life posts from Simple Homeschool, I've been feeling nostalgic for when I used to document our days here at Rockin' Granola.  Really, doing so is why I started blogging in the first place, but there have been some seasons of life where it just hasn't been a priority to write it all down because my time and energy have been needed elsewhere.

And, honestly, this current season of life isn't one in which I find myself with a lot of time for writing things down either.

But, I want to remember.  When the days are slower and the kids are grown, I know I'll want to remember.

I thought it would be nice to make a little extra effort to start to start recording our days again.  At least in pictures, if not words.

Here is what we were up to today ...

The baby and I were up around 6:30 as Christopher headed off to work.  She nursed for a while and then went back to sleep, so I had almost an hour and half to myself before the rest of the household woke up. Unheard of!

I sipped coffee, answered emails, updated facebook for Simple Kids, tweeted "good morning" and played around on Pinterest (and called it "working.")  It was a gorgeous, snowy wonderland outside! (Says the person who didn't have to drive to work in it)

Lucy and Mia woke up first and we all snuggled together in the living room, trying to warm up.  Sometimes that takes a lot of blankets.

When I opened the freezer to ponder dinner plans, I made a little discovery:

After breakfast, we got down to the business of the morning ...

After lunch, we decided the best way to heat up the chilly house was to bake cookies. We ended up adding chopped almonds and a handful of white chocolate chips to the dough, because sometimes things like that just have to be done.

The rest of the afternoon was quiet and peaceful, my favorite way to finish a busy week.
