We're using Little Acorn Learning's new Afterschool Guide for September. So far one of my favorite suggestions for enrichment has been using leaves for spelling practice.
This morning I had Jillian draw some leaves, color them, and then cut them out. I wrote her spelling words on the back (from Oak Meadow's "High Utility 500" list in the syllabus, for those of you also using Oak Meadow for third grade).
We practiced with them for a short time this morning and then put the leaves into a wooden bowl. (Jillian thinks we need to use a bigger bowl. Be careful what you wish for, kiddo!)
The bowl is on our kitchen table now, waiting for some practice with Daddy in the evenings. It is a really pretty seasonal display for our table and a learning aid. Gotta love that!
How do you practice spelling words with your child?
