First, take some scrap yarn, a circular needle (the only kind the young Miss will accept as a "real" knitting needle), and then cast on a half a dozen stitches. Knit for a few rows ...
... then hand it over and ask her to finish it for you.
She will try so hard to get the needle tips into the yarn loops ...
that is sooo cute! i love the quote too. i read somewhere to write down all the speech patterns your child goes through in his/her development. they really sound cute, don't they?
Adorable! Mine also love to "knit." Today my four year old took a long string of yarn, wet it under the sink for a minute (??) and rolled it up into a ball and told me she was making herself a yarn ball like mommy's. I love when they do that stuff.
Love it! Note to self...must somehow teach this inept lefty to knit, it'll keep Fiona busy!
In other notes :) Thanks so much for your comments! So nice to hear from you~ I've only just started posting semi regularly on that blog again. And bike camps *are* really cool! G loves learning to ride with only two wheels and by the time you get to C's level, they are learning trail riding and mountain bike technique and going on 7.5-10K rides in traffic. Been so good for C's road skills and he loves mountain biking! Steve and I laughed at your shoe shopping comments (or rather Lucy's comments!) Those words could have come out of Fiona's mouth...uncanny! (and relieving too...We're not the only ones! G was such an easygoing little guy that we weren't prepared for Miss Fiona's strong personality...even though we've seen it before in C.)
And thanks for the kick in the pants about Christmas. I love reading your plans and gift lists...I need to get my own started. I've been really focused on finding and making gifts this year too. We bought a Waldorf doll from Bamboletta for F's BD coming up and since then, I've been really aware of what my kids play with and where I want to spend my money. Plus, I want to downsize the price of Christmas for us too which I think means more mama crafted items. I spent a lot of time looking at stats on the Advent Conspiracy website and thinking over the past 6 months and I've been challenged.
Please Note: Due to time constraints and practicality - and in some cases where my children have specifically asked me not to share their work - this blogis not a comprehensive documentation of everything that we do for homeschool.
Just as a recipe I share here does not equal the only thing we eat all week, the projects and main lesson work I share on this blog are merely a portion of the actual work done. Please, do not assume that the slice of life I write about here is a complete representation of our homeschool experience in its entirety.
Thank you.

If what I have to say is helpful to you or gets you to think about something differently, I'm so glad. But, if it isn't, there are plenty of other sources out there and I wish you luck on your search to find what you need (so no nasty letter writing, please).
These are my own thoughts and experiences I share here. I'm not looking to debate homeschooling, religion, politics, or parenting.
As someone wiser than I once said, "take what you can use, blow away the rest."
