Crocus, crocus waken up
And catch a sunbeam in your cup.

Wynstones Press Spring
Finally.
"Finally" everyone keeps saying.
Finally Spring is here.
Finally the light can be seen at the ends of certain tunnels.
The road is still long, but the sunshine makes the path seem happier. Easier to walk.
My babies are growing as quickly as the green and purple shoots popping up in all of our flower beds.
Last Spring's chubby baby boy is this year's long-legged child.
The shy baby on my hip is now the toddler running in the yard.
My oldest girl in these flickering moments where she is more reserved, stops her play to come and sit with me, laughing at the littlest two together .... manners and expressions surprising me with a maturity I hadn't expected just yet.
I'm relieved when she joins back in the running, giggling, and bubble blowing.
Oh, my heart.
It is Spring and everything is growing.
Don't grow up too quickly, my flowers.
Catch the sunbeams!
I want to bask in every moment of your bloom.

Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow! Are those yours? How do you get so many to come up and in such a cluster?
ReplyDeleteI have one lone crocus in the front and a few stragglers in the back. I see a lot of tulip shoots, though, so I'm hopeful we'll see signs of spring soon.
yes, they are ours :-) We have many clusters like that all over from the original bulbs I planted when we moved here.
ReplyDeleteI think you're supposed to divide them every so often and spread them out, as they multiply bulbs every year. However, as you know, it seems like every Spring and Fall I've hand my hands or my belly full of babies so the upkeep just hasn't happened LOL
I rather like the clusters - little purple explosions all over!
Thanks for your kinds words :-)
Gorgeous crocus! I am so excited for mine to appear. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely poem and lovely crocus. Makes me want to plant some for next year.
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons I keep our blog is so my children won't grow up while I"m not looking.
ReplyDelete:) - So I'm always looking!
